It can feel like your life is over when you are depressed. You may feel as though seeing a therapist or taking anti-depressants is a sign of weakness, though it is actually a sign of strength. Work to change the unhealthy habits which contribute to your depression. Instead of keeping a bad habit, try to replace it with a good habit. If you become depressed after some negative situations, keep telling yourself that depression and blaming yourself is never the answer. Learn how you can become more assertive and understand that negatively-perceived situations are not always your fault, even if others try to pin blame on you. No matter what happens, remember to stay positive when battling against depression. This state of mind is important, as positive thinkers are more likely to find ways to make bad situations bearable, or even remove themselves from the situation. If times have gotten tough, do something about it. Even little changes can make huge differences because they break the rut of stagnation. Look for a new hobby, transform your daily routine or make new friends. Your body, soul and mind will all benefit.
Stay on track with your plan for implementing wellness into your life. Always follow the advice of your therapist and partake in the exercises that they set for you. Don’t miss those therapy appointments as they are important! Also, jot down some of the ideas that you need to discuss with your therapist. This can help you stay on track during your sessions.
